Scholars After School: Literacy-focused.

Supporting growth in literacy skills — and much more.

Literacy tutoring, using a blended-learning approach. Enrichment, including clubs for deeper exploration. And a variety of recreational activities. Scholars After School uses a comprehensive approach to attain big reading gains.

What makes our Scholars After School program so successful?

We start with a brief assessment to determine each student’s individual literacy learning needs. Then, students are grouped according to those needs for small-group instruction. Our teacher-to-student ratio of 1:6 ensures that each child receives personalized support.

Students also participate in self-paced computer learning, which is proven to help students master fundamental skills that are essential for reading fluency.

This combination of teacher-led intervention and computer-based tutoring is referred to as “blended learning” — and for our scholars, it’s a recipe for success.

It’s often said that in the early years of school, children are learning to read … but by the end of third grade, they must be able to read to learn.

Scholars After School helps students master fundamental literacy skills and improve their reading fluency and comprehension — so they have the skills they need for ongoing academic success.

Add a host of daily enrichment and recreation offerings, plus Friday Clubs that offer 5 or 6 weeks of in-depth, hands-on learning, and you’ve got a comprehensive after-school program that supports the development of the whole child.
